Temporary Nurse Aide

The Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis is seeking to hire a temporary Nurse or Nurse Aide for its Lutheran North Middle & High School Campus. Lutheran North is a diverse educational community whose unity is in Jesus Christ.

Summary: The primary responsibility of the nurse’s aide position is to support the school nurse in providing health care to students and staff. You would work closely with our Athletic Trainer and Office Staff. Our school nurse will also be available via phone for coaching and assistance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide medical first aid services in the absence of the certified school nurse according to standing
orders.
Assess injuries and notify supervisors of injuries requiring medical care or immediate absence from
school. Complete school accident report requiring the certified school nurse’s signature. Screen
students who present symptoms of a communicable disease/condition and exclude them from school
when necessary.
Receive and log-in medications for students provided by parents.
Administer prescribed medications.
Provide health services as required for students having special medical needs.
Keep health records current:
Record and file completed physical forms on permanent health records.
Log important information to be included on the health concerns list – include new entries. Inform
teaching staff of new health concerns.
Record significant health-related information documented by parents on excuse notes.
File excuse notes according to district guidelines.
Notify parents/guardians of significant injuries, health concerns, vision, and hearing referral follow-
ups.
Skills/Qualifications: SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Organized and personable with excellent customer service skills
2. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
3. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, etc.
4. Excellent verbal, written, and phone communication skills
5. Must be attentive to detail and work efficiently, independently, and error-free
6. Computer and data entry expertise – experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Google Docs
preferred; experience in graphic layout and design is an added plus

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: 2 – 3 years prior general office experience and CPR certification preferred

This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt position.

Compensation will be hourly, ranging from $17-$20, depending upon ability and experience. Benefits
are not included.
